Airhogs: Mission Drone

An augmented reality-enhanced toy. The physical drone is controlled via smartphone/tablet. It is flown inside a virtual world, fending off an alien invasion, fighting fires, and rescuing civilians.

Slightly on the leading edge of AR as a household technology, Mission Drone utilises Vuforia and requires a physical marker, which is packed in with the toy. Drone control via BlueTooth connection, CPU-heavy AR calculations, and the range of target devices made it necessary to optimise the art side quite a lot.
